AMERICUS — South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) be hosting Emmy Award winner Steve Spangler for a free Back to School Event from 4-6 p.m. Aug. 13 in the SGTC James S. Peters gymnasium. The public is invited to attend.

Spangler is a science celebrity educator who has appeared on the Ellen Show. He enjoys the science of creating amazing experiences that inspire children to wonder, discover, and explore. During his high-energy presentation, he will show the participants that the “best day ever” is more than just a feeling or emotion, it is a powerful principle that helps people uncover strategies for connecting, experiencing, and engaging in the classroom and in life.

“Steve is the science teacher that you always wanted in school,” said SGTC President John Watford, Ed.D. “We are excited to host Steve on our campus and provide this experience at no cost to individuals in the surrounding area. This is a great opportunity to show everyone how science, technology, engineering, and math can be fun as well as be put to practical use in exciting careers. South Georgia Tech is all about workforce education. By demonstrating to individuals, of all ages, the benefits of learning and get them excited about STEM careers, we believe that this will be well worth our investment.”

Spangler believes that the formula for a “Best Day Ever” experience is to connect, experience, and engage. That is what he has planned for the free “Best Day Ever” experience at SGTC.

Spangler is the science teacher that would, without warning, get things to fizz, pop, and explode, making students chant, “Best Day Ever!” From the moment he steps on stage, you know that this presentation is going to be different. The energy is high, the content is strong, and the audience-focused interaction is hands-on, engaging, and extremely fun. Guaranteed oohs & aahs, but watch out for the flying potatoes!

Spangler is the host of the syndicated television series DIY Sci on FOX, and he’s a regular guest on Ellen DeGeneres Show where the Burbank fire department is always on stand-by. He’s a best-selling author and an Emmy award-winning speaker who will do just about anything it takes to get people excited about science. His show will teach individuals how to engage at the highest levels to create unforgettable experiences that children remember for a lifetime.
