AMERICUS — Mrs. Emily Scarborough McDonald, age 96, of Americus, passed away Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2019, at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Rusty Mauldin will officiate. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11 at Aldridge Funeral Services.

Emily Scarborough McDonald was born Feb. 14, 1923, in Bibb County, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Herschel V. Scarborough and the late Maude Moore Scarborough. Mrs. McDonald was a member of the Tuesday Morning Bridge Club and the Morning Glory Garden Club. She volunteered with Americus and Sumter County Hospice. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Lady’s Bible class.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Jim Williams of Manassas, Va.; two grandsons and spouses, Daniel and Nancy Rasmussen of Adamstown, Md., and James and Margaret Rasmussen of Peachtree City; five great-grandchildren, Andy Rasmussen, Emily Rasmussen, Gabe Rasmussen, Sarah Rasmussen, Emma Rasmussen; and two stepgrandchildren and spouses, Joseph and Emily Williams of Tarboro, N.C., and James and Faye Williams and of Waynesboro, Pa. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. McDonald was preceded in death by her husband Eugene O. McDonald and her brothers H. Vernon Scarborough Jr. and Benjamin Scarborough.
