AMERICUS — Mr. James D. “Pete” Arrington, 78, of Americus, passed away Friday, Aug, 9, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2019, at Shiloh Baptist Church. The Rev. Andrew Stucker and the Rev. Hugh Harbort will officiate. Interment will follow with military honors in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11 at Aldridge Funeral Services. The family requests everyone that attends the service to come dressed in their fishing attire if they wish.

The following are asked to serve as active pallbearers: W.R. Rooks, Harry Dragon, Ben Arrington, Joel Arrington, Tim Arrington, and Donnie Arrington. The Freddie Ward Sunday School Class and dear friend Marvin Nation are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers

James Davis “Pete” Arrington was born Nov. 7, 1940, in Americus. He was the son of the late Marvin Everett Arrington Sr. and the late Jewel Benford Arrington. Mr. Arrington was a plumbing instructor at South Georgia Technical Collegem and worked in administration for 25 years. He taught construction trades at Central State Prison in Macon, Ga. He was a member of the South Georgia Tech Booster Club and Hurricane Club. He served as a Red Coat for Phoebe Sumter Medical Center and was a United States Army veteran and member of American Legion Post 191 in Ellaville. Mr. Pete was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for many years. He enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, fishing, and golfing.

Survivors include his wife Martha Arrington; two sons and daughters-in-law Darrell and Judy Arrington of Ellaville, and J.J. and Melissa Battle of Fayettevillel two daughters Terri Battle of Americus and Susan Vinson of Macon; one brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Jody Arrington of Leslie; and eight grandchildren Hank Arrington, Emma Arrington, Gracie Arrington, Chelsie Sorensen and spouse Val, T.J. Battle, Brianna Battle, Angie Vinson. and Brooke Vinson. Three great-grandchildren Corey Vinson, Millie Sorensen, and Rooney Sorensen, and a sister-in-law Jeanette Arrington of Perry also survive.

He was preceded in death by a brother Marvin Everett Arrington Jr.
