AMERICUS — The following food service inspections were recently conducted by Environmental Health, Sumter County Health Department.
• JJ’s Wings and Things, 102 W. Lamar St., Americus — 4-26-19 — score: 82
— Observed the establishment did not have signed copies of the employee reporting agreement or equivalent documentation. Person in charge is to have all food service employees sign a copy of the agreement. Signed copies are to be kept at the establishment and made available during future inspections.
— Person in charge could not produce the vomiting and diarrheal clean up procedure. Person in charge is to post procedure.
— Observed a container of chicken tenders (prepped earlier) not cooling properly. Person in charge moved tenders to walk-in cooler to cool.
— Observed toilet room doors not self-closing and tight fitting. Person in charge to render doors self-closing.
— Observed rear entry/exit door not solid, self-closing, and tight-fitting. Person in charge to repair the door so that it is solid, self-closing, and tight-fitting.
NOTE: This restaurant has closed and has been opened, under news management, as Toboggan Steve’s at the same location.
• Americus-Sumter Center, 717 N. Jackson St., Americus — 7-29-19 — score: 91
— Observed time/temperature control for safety food (TCS, milk) cold-holding above 41 degrees F. PIC to cold-hold TCS food items at or below 41 degrees F.
• Sheppard House Restaurant, 1608-H E. Forsyth St., Americus — 7-25-19 — score: 99
— Observed restroom doors not self-closing. PIC to render the doors self-closing.
• Kentucky Fried Chicken, 102 Tripp St., Americus — 7-24-19 — score: 98
— Observed inspection report not posted in drive thru window. PIC to post top portion (1/3) of the inspection report in drive thru window.
— Observed cardboard being used as a mat at the chicken breading station. Mats and duckboards must be designed to be removable and easily cleanable.
