AMERICUS — The American Legion Post 558, Americus Veterans Day Parade Committee is working on its sixth annual Veterans Day events for Friday, Nov. 8. Veterans Day is observed this year on Monday, Nov. 11.

Frank Mitchell event chairman, said a program will be held at 10 a.m. in front of the Sumter County Courthouse and veterans as well as the public are encouraged to attend.
The Veterans Day Parade will follow at 11 a.m. downtown. A special luncheon for invitees follows the parade.
Invitations are extended to every organization within the community and surrounding areas to participate. Some organizations are provided with small donations upon availability, to offset the cost of their travel.
As this event nears, the Legionnaires and their Auxillians reach out to community churches, because they know that congregations are comprised of active and retired service men and women, serving or have served in some branch of the military.
For information email (efmamericanlegion558@gmail.com) or call Frank Mitchell 229-938-4310. Donations may be mailed to P. O. Box 6775, Americus GA 31709.

With the support of the community, each year of the event has been memorable. On this special day, the military service men and women are honored.
