Ellaville/Schley historical society to host annual auction

The Ellaville/ Schley County Historical Society has its annual auction on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Thomas Edwin Wall Post 191 American Legion. This special event will begin at 5 p.m. with live entertainment. The Lonesome Road Blue Grass County Band will perform for two hours. A barbecue supper will be served beginning at 5 p.m. and can be enjoyed throughout the entertainment and Auction which starts at 7 p.m. There will also be a Bake Sale.

Anyone is welcome to give a tax-exempt donation, whether a member or not. The names of those giving a donation will be announced during the auction as items come up for bid.

All proceeds will go to help preserve history in Ellaville and Schley County.

Ellaville Methodist Church hosts ‘Kids 4 Christ’

Ellaville United Methodist Church held a special Back to School “Kids 4 Christ” party with large slides and other large inflatable playground equipment.

Participants were served hot dogs. Sloppy Joes, potato chips, cookies and drinks. There was a lot of family un.

The Rev. Haynes Martin has expanded the Wednesday program to include grades six-12. This is Methodist Youth Group meets from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Gill house next door to the church. Brooke Stembridge and Mary Lynn Wilder Ornelas are in charge of the programs.

The regular “Kids 4 Christ” Program is held at the same time in the church social hall. Ann Gill is program coordinator. These special programs will continue throughout the school year.

 

McCorkles take a mini vacation

Last weekend, Dwight and Mary Ellen McCorkle went on a mini vacation with their daughter Melissa and her husband Nick Snyder and their two children, Harper and Nellie Snyder.

They spent the weekend at Golf Island Surf and the Racquet Club in Hudson, Florida. After a day trip to Weekie Wachee  to see the Mermaid Show, Dwight and Mary Ellen spent the next few days enjoying the pool and watching the dolphins in the lagoon.

Their son Ricky Sawicky and his wife Kelly, who live in Florida, came over to visit with them. They all had an enjoyable trip seeing the children and getting away.
