LESLIE — Mr. Billy Frank Cooper, 66, of Leslie, passed away Friday, Sept. 6, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services. The Rev. William Hall will officiate. Interment will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Aldridge Funeral Services.

Mr. Cooper was born March 16, 1953, in Americus. He was the son of the late Charlie Frank Cooper and the late Jane Elizabeth Hayslip Cooper. Mr. Cooper was a dedicated employee of Georgia Southwestern State University for 40 years, serving as the certified mechanic supervisor and general maintenance department. He served with the Sumter County Fire and Rescue for 34 years, served with the Sumter County Auxiliary Deputies for 30 years. Mr. Cooper was a United States Navy veteran and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Judy Mauldin Cooper; a daughter Bridgett Michelle Cooper of California; two sons and daughter-in-law Travis Dayton Cooper (Rachel) of California and Kevin Michael Cooper of South Carolina; two sisters and brother-in-law Mary Cooper of Americus and Carolyn F. Cooper Gaughf (Jimmy) of Cordele; a brother and sister-in-law Charles A. Cooper (Jennifer) of Americus; and three grandchildren Cade Cooper, Kameron Cooper, and Mikalah Jadyn Cooper. Nieces Colby E. Walls and spouse Wesley, Hayden C. Walls, Chloe G. Walls, Megan L. McLemore and spouse Ben, Ryleigh J. McLemore, Addison P. McLemore and Kelsie L. McLemore and his special cat Kaz also survive.
