AMERICUS — James “Jimmy” Preston Greene, age 84, of Americus, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. A native of Americus, he was born Aug. 19, 1935, the son of the late William L. and Hazel Greene. Mr. Greene had a bachelor of science degree in forestry and was a farmer.

All services will be private.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Carey K. Greene of Americus; a daughter and son-in-law, Gretchen and Nick Gabriella of Americus; a son and daughter-in-law, Pepper and Paige Greene of Americus; two sisters, Grace Pace of Perry and Julia Neel of Thomasville; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Julie Greene of Americus; five grandchildren, Preston, Pyne and Paisley Greene, Nick Gabrielli and Valentina Gabrielli Ojeda; and two great-grandchildren, Sofi and Emma Ojeda. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred McMillon, and two brothers, William L. Greene Jr. and Dr. Richard Greene.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Southland Academy, 123 Southland Road, Americus GA 31709.
