AMERICUS

 

Friendship Missionary Baptist Church

The 124th church anniversary celebration continues at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 with a concert by the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Choir and guest choir, Restoration Church of Americus. Refreshments to be served following each night’s service. Celebration culminates at 11 a.m. Sept. 22 with pastor, Bishop Melvin McCluster bringing the message. Dinner follows in the fellowship hall. At 3 p.m. is a church note burning ceremony with the Rev. Eddie Oliver and Looking Up Methodist Church of Columbus conducting the service.

 

Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church

Everyone is invited to the annual Men and Women Day program during the 11 a.m. worship service Oct. 6. Pastor Georgia Deriso of Freedom Harvest Worship Center is guest speaker. Colors are red and black.

 

Union Oak Grove Baptist Church

The annual Ushers’ Fellowship Program is at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 27 with guest speaker, Deacon Eric Brown, son of the Late Deacon Isaiah Brown and Deaconess Bessie Brown of New St. Paul Baptist Church.

Cross Faith Ministries brings its first ladies retreat to Americus Oct. 19 at the KOA Hayes House at 1619 U.S. Highway 280. Check-in begins at 8:15 a.m. with the retreat kickoff at 9 a.m. and dismissal at 5 p.m. Join us for a day of anointed worship by Meredith Osterhaus (of Lexington, S.C.) and four powerfully packed sessions by Pastor Shannon (Woods) Contreras (formerly of Americus). Homecoming is celebrated at 11 a.m. Oct. 6. The Rev. McCray Dove, who is also lead singer of the Dove Brothers Quartet, brings the message. Lunch will be served following the worship service.
