• Firefighters responded to 16 calls for medical assistance
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on South Lee Street.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on East Forsyth Street.
• Firefighters responded to First United Methodist Church, 200 S. Lee St., to a report of a gas odor inside the office. They noticed a slight odor throughout the structure which became heaviest in a mechanical room where the gas water heater was located. The city’s gas department was notified and found traces of gas in the room but was unable to determine the exact location. They advised turning off the gas to the water heater and contacting a plumber to check it out.
• Firefighters responded to a fire at the apartments at 1848 S. Lee St. The fire was in an upstairs bathroom. It was determined the vent fan had small flames around it. The fire was extinguished and the fan removed for further investigation. Fire personnel noticed the odor as well and notified the city gas department
• Firefighters responded to Hartman Street to a report of a gas odor. Occupant told them it was coming from the water heater, which is new and had been installed a few days ago. They too noticed a gas odor and notified the gas department which arrived and also investigated. They shut off and locked the natural gas supply line to the structure and told owner a plumber would be needed.
• Firefighters responded to the report of a possible structure fire on Fairway Two Drive. Occupant told them the A/C had been on fire but had been extinguished. They cut power to the unit and checked the area for heat, as well as the attic. Occupant was advised to call maintenance personnel to come and look at it and not to turn it on.
• Firefighters responded to Lester Lane to a report of a wildland fire. They extinguished the approximately one-quarter acre fire in a wooded area.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident in which a vehicle struck a building on East Lamar Street.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on North Lee Street.
• Firefighters responded to Lonnie Lane to a potential gas leak. No hazards were found.
• Firefighters responded to East Forsyth Street to a traffic accident.
• Firefighters responded to South Hampton Street to a report of a smoke odor. Nothing was found.
• Firefighters responded to the area of Felder Street and Varsity Drive to a report of heavy smoke. They found a smoke/controlled fire as the source and advised to the occupant that’s illegal to burn rubbish in the city. They extinguished it.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on West College Street.
• Firefighters responded to Lester Lane to a report of a small brush fire. They extinguished the half-acre brush fire.
