AMERICUS — The following inspections were recently conducted by Environmental Health, Sumter County Health Department.

  • Quality Inn, 1205 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Americus — 8-20-19 — score: 100
  • Sumter County Primary School, 123 Learning Lane, Americus — 8-16-19 — score: 100
  • Sumter County Intermediate School, 439 Bumphead Road, Americus — 8-16-19 — score: 96
  • Motel 6 Pool, 1007 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Americus — 8-13-19 — score: 96

—  Observed no copy of the certificate for the Certified Pool Operation (CPO) on site. PIC to obtain a copy of CPO’s certification.

  • Hibachi Express, 1556 E. Forsyth St., Americus — 8-12-19 — score: 82

— Observed time as a public health control being used on cooked chicken. Person in charge (PIC) could not provide written procedure. PIC to have a written procedure at the establishment and made available during future inspections.

— Observed no inspection report posted in the drive thru window. PIC to post top third of the inspection report in the drive thru window.

— Observed ice scoop being stored in a pan containing dust. Ice scoop to be stored in a clean and protected location.

— Observed self closer on the men’s restroom door not properly attached. PIC to reattach the self closer.

—  Observed back door knob not fit tightly onto the door leaving a hole to the outside. PIC to repair the door so that the door has no openings to the outside.

OGLETHORPE  — The following food service inspections were recently conducted by Environmental Health, Macon County Health Department.

  • Pam’s Sweet Treats, 119 Cherry St., Montezuma — 7-25-19 — score: 100
  • Flint River Community Hospital, 509 Sumter St., Montezuma — 8-13-19 — score: 87

— Observed no Certified Food Safety Manager for establishment Corrective action: instructed PIC to provide CFSM for establishment.

— Observed fried chicken (119 degrees F., 120 degrees F.), rice (127 degrees F.) hot-held below 135 degrees F. Corrective action: instructed PIC to reheat all items to 165 degrees F. for 15 seconds before hot-holding.

  • Montezuma Health Care, 521 Sumter St., Montezuma — 8-5-19 — score: 100

ELLAVILLE — The following food service inspections were recently conducted by Environmental Health, Schley County Health Department.

  • Schley County Elementary School, 1997 U.S. Highway 19 South, Ellaville — 8-16-19 — score: 91

—Observed chili (117 degrees F., 126 degrees F.) hot-held below 135 degrees F. in reach-in warmer. Instructed PIC to reheat chili to 165 degrees F. for 15 seconds before hot-holding.

  • Bonita’s, 27 Bethlehem Church Road, Preston — 8-7-19 — score 97

— Observed record for bacterial water sample was not current. Bacterial water samples are required on a quarterly (three-month) basis. PIC to get a bacterial water sample done.
