AMERICUS – Americus-Sumter senior forward Jelissa Reese has decided to take her basketball talents to Troy, AL, where she will continue her education and play basketball at Troy University. Troy is an NCAA Division I institution and is a member of the Sun Belt Conference. Reese made it official when she signed her letter of intent on Wednesday morning, November 13, in the media center on the ASHS campus.

Reese was heavily recruited by other Division I schools, including Western Kentucky, Coastal Carolina, Jacksonville State (AL) and Jacksonville University (FL).

“I chose Troy because as soon as I got there, it felt like home and I loved how family oriented the student-athletes were,” Reese said.

The 5’10 senior will be one of six seniors that will provide essential leadership to a squad that finished the 2018-19 season with an overall mark of 11-15. The Lady Panthers defeated Columbus High 56-37 in the first round of the 2019 Region 1-AAAA Tournament before losing to Hardaway 55-25 in the second round.

While at Troy, Reese plans to major in engineering. After college, she would like to liver overseas and work in the engineering field.
