Lady Panthers improve to 6-0 with rout over Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA – The Americus-Sumter Lady Panther basketball team (ASHS) ran their undefeated record to 6-0 when they routed the Lady Blue Devils of Columbus 61-10 on Tuesday, December 3, at Columbus High School (CHS).

With the win, ASHS stays undefeated at 6-0 and they are 2-0 in the Region 1-AAAA standings.

Jelissa Reese led the Lady Panthers in scoring with 15 points and both Tiffani Goodman and Trinity Jones each poured in nine. Divine White and Brianna Pope each scored eight points and DeAsia Ford and Trinity Jackson each scored six to round out the ASHS scoring.

ASHS jumped out to a 24-4 lead in the first quarter to effectively secure the game early. They then outscored CHS 23-2 in the second quarter to take a 47-6 lead at the half. Having amassed a huge lead, the Lady Panthers cooled off somewhat in the second half as they outscored the Lady Blue Devils 14-4. Khirah Smith led CHS in scoring with seven points.

The Lady Panthers (6-0, 2-0) will try to stay undefeated when they host Dougherty on Saturday, December 7. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m. In the previous contest between these two teams, ASHS won convincingly by the score of 72-31 in Albany back on Tuesday, November 26.
