COLUMBUS, GA – The Americus-Sumter boys’ basketball team (ASHS) got double-figure scoring from three players in their 78-49 victory over the Columbus Blue Devils on Tuesday, December 3, at Columbus High School (CHS).

Trae Brown led the Panthers in scoring with 19 points. Keldrick Flemming scored 15 and Darion Mitchell chipped in 12 in the winning cause.

“We started out a little flat. Players got in foul trouble early,” ASHS head coach Johnny Genwright said. “Then in the second quarter, our defense became intensive to give us a spark and we never looked back.”

The undefeated Panthers (6-0, 2-0) will try to stay undefeated overall and in the Region 1-AAAA standings when they host Dougherty Comprehensive High School (DCHS) on Saturday, December 7, at 7:30 p.m. In the last meeting between the two squads, ASHS came from behind to beat the Trojans 60-56 on Tuesday, November 26, at DCHS.
