Gail Rebecca Spaay (Carter), 68, of Rentz, Georgia passed in peace surrounded by family on December 8, 2019 in Americus, GA. She was born in Albany, GA, the first daughter of Bennie Marion Carter and Oleta Wages Monts on August 8, 1951.

She graduated from Americus High School in 1969. She was a patient, kindhearted individual. She loved to be at the beach collecting seashells, fishing, snorkeling and exploring deserted islands. After retiring from the Veteran’s Administration, she enjoyed antiquing, reading, sewing and gardening. She spent time giving back to the community, loved to help others, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

 

Gail is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Spaay; three children, Frances (Michael) Buxton, Bushnell, FL.; Shamus Woods, West Virginia; and Ashley (Don) Darby, Leander, TX.;

five grandchildren, Tyler (Megan) Hansen, Clay (Kristen) Hansen, Dominique Woods, Ariana Moise, Jaelyn Darby; and one great grandchild, Kenley Hansen;

four siblings: Raymond (Dale) Carter, Cape Coral, FL.; Beneta Carter Forehand; Ellen (Don) Adkins; and Jodie Monts, Albany, GA.;

Cousins – Charles Stokes, Pam Beeghly Dixon, Raymond Beeghly. And a host of family and friends.
