ELLAVILLE – Coming off a 57-42 victory over Manchester on Friday, January 24, the Schley County Lady Wildcat Basketball Team (SCHS) came into Tuesday night’s Region 4-A contest against Macon County (MCHS) hoping to get another win to improve their position in the region standings. Unfortunately, the Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 19-3 lead in the first quarter and it was a deficit from which SCHS could not overcome. As a result, they ended up losing to the Lady Bulldogs 59-39 in their next to last regular-season home game.

The Lady Wildcats continued to struggle in the second quarter, as they were outscored by MCHS 16-9 and trailed 35-12 at the half.

In the third quarter, things began to improve for SCHS. They outscored the Lady Bulldogs 12-9 in the quarter, even though they still trailed 44-24.

However, though they were able to match the Lady Bulldogs basket for basket in the final quarter, the Lady Wildcats could not overcome their double-digit deficit and lost to MCHS 59-39.

SCHS is now 8-9 overall and they are currently in seventh place in the Region 4-A standings with a record of 6-8. MCHS improves its record to 15-5 overall and is now tied for third place in the Region 4-A standings with a 10-4 region record.

The Lady Wildcats travel to Hawkinsville on Friday, January 31, for a rematch against the Lady Red Devils. In the last meeting between these two teams in Ellaville on Tuesday, December 17, SCHS fell 26-23 in a hard-fought battle. The Lady Wildcats’ final game of the regular season will at home on Saturday afternoon, February 1, at 1 p.m.
