SGTC SkillsUSA Club Recognized for Achievements

AMERICUS – The SkillsUSA club at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently earned recognition for one of the largest membership increases in the state. Under the guidance of SGTC SkillsUSA advisor and Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs Vanessa Wall, 59 additional students joined the club compared to last year. This is the third largest increase of student involvement in the club in Georgia. The club also earned Level 1 Quality Chapter Status in the SkillsUSA Chapter Excellence program.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry representatives working together to ensure that America has a skilled work force. It is a national nonprofit organization that serves teachers, as well as high school and college students who are preparing for careers in the trade, technical and skills service occupations, as well as healthcare occupations. The Skills USA program hosts local, state, and national competitions for students to showcase the skills they have learned through hands-on training in the classroom.
