In the Department of Public Health’s most recent report Tuesday March 31 at noon, there was a significant increase in the number of positive Coronavirus test results in Sumter County.  There are a total of 32 current positive COVID-19 cases in Sumter County.  The Georgia Department of Public Health states that, “Today’s significant increase in cases is in part due to additional laboratories reporting to DPH, and also improvements in electronic reporting from other laboratories. Patient information is often incomplete and DPH works to complete the records, so data will change over time.”

Sumter County has two reported deaths due to Coronavirus with both patients having had underlying medical issues prior to contracting the virus.
