Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sumter County continue to rise

AMERICUS – According to published reports, the Georgia Department of Public Health states that as of noon on Tuesday, April 7, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Georgia is up to 8,818 and that the number of confirmed cases in Sumter County had risen to 147.

Six people in Sumter County have died of the disease and according to the latest update, 4 of those had underlying conditions while it is unknown if the other two had any underlying health issues prior to contracting the virus.  The number of COVID-19-related fatalities in the state of Georgia has risen to 329.
