Leonard Smith, age 62, of Americus, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020. Mr. Smith was born on March 16, 1958 in Sumter County to the late Dan and Betty Smith.  He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he was active in the children’s ministry with his puppets.  Mr. Smith’s family meant everything to him. He loved his music, movies, cats and going to Wal-Mart.

Graveside services will be held Monday, April 27, 2020 at 11:00 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Steve Golden officiating.

Survivors include two sisters, Brenda(Jeff) Cavender of Americus and Beth Denney of Vidalia; one brother, Allen(Peggy) Smith of Americus; nieces and nephews, Jeffery(Cindi) Cavender, Dee(Todd) Studdard, Portia Anderson, Renee(Jesse) Batay, Will(Trixie) Denney, Chad(Blake) Smith, and Wes(Angie) Smith; great nieces and nephews, Kayleigh(Cody) Vickers, Chandler Studdard, Eva Grace Studdard, David Anderson Jr., Autumn Batay, Maura Batay, Lula Grace Batay, Grace Smith, Bradley Smith, Henry Smith, Ellie Smith, and Harry Smith; one great-great nephew, Carson Vickers.  Also surviving is his special friend Keelan Barkley.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Billy Denney.

The family request memorial contributions be made to Bethel Baptist Church 846 Lane Store Rd. Americus, GA. 31709 and to Sumter Humane Society 108 Industrial Blvd Americus, GA. 31709.
