Mr. William “Phil” Addy, age 79, of Preston, Georgia passed away Friday, June 26, 2020 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus.  He was born on August 16, 1940 in Americus, to the late William Phillip and Effie Lee Addy of Preston.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Nancy Addy; his son Scott Addy and his wife Paula of Parker, Colorado; his daughter Laura Lee Berkemeier and her husband Paul of Flowery Branch; his daughter Jennifer Dickens and her husband Eric of Americus.  He was affectionately known as Pop by his grandchildren:  Allison Ratchford and her husband Ryan, Jacob Addy, Lilli Dickens, Laney Berkemeier, David Dickens and Elli Dickens.

Following graduation from Mercer University, Phil was commissioned in the United States Army as an officer and was stationed in Korea before being discharged with the rank of captain.  He worked for the Production Credit Association, was a USDA District Director for many years, and owned and operated Addy’s Dairy Farm.

Phil loved the Webster County community and held several positions over the years including tax assessor and serving on the school board.    He was a member of Weston Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He was also an active member of Gideons International and was president of his local camp.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020 at Preston Cemetery at 10:00 AM with Rev. Wallace Willis and Rev. Raymond Smith officiating.
