14u Michigan squad defeats UCONN in DHBC play

The 14u Michigan Wolverines jumped out to a 12-3 lead early in the first half and though the UCONN Huskies were able to make a run of their own to cut their deficit to 34-32. Michigan responded with another 14-2 run late in the second half to secure a 48-34 victory in the Dwight Harris Boys Club (DHBC) basketball league on Friday, July 19, at Ninth Grade Academy.

Caiden Rogers led the Wolverines in scoring with 16 points and Tate Dominey poured in 14 points in the winning cause.

Being down 12-3 in the first half, the Huskies went on an 18-9 run of their own and tied the score at 21-21 on a three-pointer by Aiden Aldridge. However, the Wolverines responded once again by going on a 13-5 run to take a 34-26 lead.

The Huskies would not go away, however, and went on a 6-0 run that was capped off by a three-pointer from Aiden Williams, making the score 34-32 in favor of Michigan.

But just as they had done in the early part of the game, the Wolverines were able to go on another big run late, this one a 14-2 run to clinch the game by the score of 48-34.

Zac Gooden and Vincent Kearse Jr. both led the Huskies in scoring with nine points.

The regular season of the DHBC Basketball League has concluded and the playoffs for all the age groups will begin on Thursday, July 25 and the championship games of all the age groups will be on Sunday, July 28, beginning at 1 p.m.
