West Central Georgia Community Action Council holds community information session

On July 10th, The Executive Director, Patty Marie Stinson, along with staff from West Central Georgia Community Action Council, held a Community Information Session on the various services offered. West Central Georgia Community Action Council is a non-profit organization that has been awarded a grant to assist low-income families make their homes energy efficient.

Mrs. Stinson and staff provided comprehensive knowledge on the Weatherization Assistance Program. This (WAP) program is funded through the Department of Energy (Federal) and The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (State). It is the intent of the program to assist in achieving a healthy environment in the dwellings of low-income persons, particularly elderly and handicapped, to aid those persons less able to afford energy cost and to conserve energy.

Special thanks to the Americus City Manager, Ms. Diadra Powell, and her staff for hosting this Information Session, which was well attended and much appreciated. Applications were distributed during the Information Session and anyone in the community desiring an application for the Weatherization Assistance Program can come to the City Municipal Building at 101 West Lamar Street on the 2nd Floor to pick up an application or drop off a completed application. Ms. Powell shared that the City of Americus now has a Community Development Department ready to serve the needs of our community. Much appreciation to the Sumter County resident who serves on the West Central Georgia CAC Board of Directors, Julio Barrios.

Community Information sessions were held in every county served by West Central Georgia CAC, Inc.
