The Schley County 10U All-Star Baseball Team breezed through the Diamond Youth Baseball World Series (DYB) undefeated and captured the DYB title by beating the Avon Park All-Stars from Florida by the score of 9-2 in the championship game in Bossier City, LA on Monday, July 29.
In their first game at the DYB, the boys from Schley County defeated the Valley (AL) AAA All-Stars 10-3 and followed that up by shutting out Team Arkansas 15-0. They then proceeded to dispatch the Shelbyville All-Stars by the score of 17-1 and followed that up with an 11-5 win over the Lancaster All-Stars.
Schley’s next opponent was the Avon Park All-Stars from Florida and they were able to shut them out by the score of 8-0. The boys from Ellaville then came up with another shutout victory, this one a 9-0 win over the Sweetwater (TN) All-Stars.
This put Schley County into the championship game and they would face the Avon Park (FL) All-Stars for the second time. Though they weren’t able to come up with a shutout, they were able to win in dominating fashion by the score of 9-2 and win the DYB title.
While the 12u Schley County All-Stars didn’t win the championship, they still had a strong showing, as they came in third place. They got off to a good start on July 25 by beating the Bellingrath All-Stars 9-3. They then defeated the Reeltown All-Stars in dominating fashion by the score of 17-1. With two wins under their belt, they were hoping to stay undefeated with a win over the Dibol All-Stars, but fell by the score of 2-0. They were able to bounce back with a 2-1 victory over the South Brunswick All-Stars, but lost to the Dibol All-Stars again, this time by the score of 10-2.
Nevertheless, the 12u Schley County All-Stars were able to capture third place in the 12U Diamond Youth Baseball World Series.
