Janet Carolyn Wood of Cobb passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024 at her residence at the age of 75. Born in Summers County, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Charles Barker and Nita Lee Haynes Hilarides. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Wesley Hatcher. A gentle soul, she always cared for and loved everyone around her. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church and a homemaker, and an immaculate housekeeper. Janet was an avid Elvis fan, and loved and adored her pets. Her biggest passion though was caring for and loving her family, especially her grandchildren. Janet is survived by her husband of 32 years, Michael J. Wood of Cobb; four children, Suzannne Hatcher (Ricky) of Albany, Rob Hagler (Sonja Burgard) of Whitefish, MT, Kimberly Hagler of Atlanta, Darren Hagler (Brandy) of Leesburg; a step-son, Teddy Geiger of Leesburg; siblings, Roland Hilarides and Kathy Niedens, both of California; ten grandchildren, James Hatcher, Heath Hatcher, Kaylee Hatcher, Selah Hagler, Caleb Hagler, Cassidy Hagler, Sabrina Hagler, Lane Hagler, Cadence Hagler and Kaylee Geiger; and three great-grandchildren, Rowan Hatcher, Alice Hatcher and Vincent Hatcher. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Lake View Baptist Church in Sumter County.
