The dreary weather also left voting advocates undaunted. LeAnne Smith, with Indivisible, a non-partisan organization encouraging voter registration, told why voting was important. “Because everybody needs to. It’s their responsibility to vote.”
She told why the issue was important to her. “I’ve always been a voter, but, you know, I grew up with it really important in my family.”
Smith underscored its importance. “I just don’t know anything other than that, and don’t quite understand when people don’t vote.”
She also told how many who thought they were registered might not actually be registered; “the important thing is that people check to make sure that. . . their registration is current.” She mentioned that the last day to register to vote was October 7.
Smith noted that people could lose their registration. “if you hadn’t voted a couple cycles, you might be kicked out.”
Mark Ennes was another volunteer. He shared his philosophy on those who don’t vote. “Those that are apathetic typically are the ones that complain the most about things, and if you don’t vote, you shouldn’t be complaining.”
