The Sumter County School Board met Sept. 12. Superintendent Walter Knighton gave the superintendent’s dashboard report. The Georgia Power bill for the month of August at
$46,600.17, the Sumter EMC Bill as $51,645.96, the water, sewage and sanitation bill at $20,860.04, the City of Americus energy bill at $1,143.55, and the cell phone bill at $1,904.33.

He gave the millage rate for 2024 at 18.057, with each mill generating approximately $755,796 and the current budget for the year at $54,323,288. Fran Ingram was recognized during recognitions for her work as a volunteer. Leon Wilborn was recognized as custodian of the month. LeAndrea Thomas was the staff member for the month of August. Janice Hawkins was recognized in the nutrition department. Carolyn Hurley was recognized for her work as a paraprofessional. Latonya Johnson was recognized as teacher of the
month, and Dylan Fredrick was recognized as student of the month.

District Director of the month was Tracy Monts, District Staff of the month was Kyle Connor, transportation’s monthly recognition went to Brenda Dice, and monthly recognition in maintenance went to Delana Price.
