Man arrested for making terroristic threats

Marquis Jamil McCoy was arrested on Sept. 17, 2024, for making threats to the local schools, law enforcement officers, and other individuals. He is now being held at the Sumter County jail. Sheriff Eric Bryant stated that McCoy posted threats to social media. He is charged with two felonies, making terroristic threats and violating probation, in addition to a misdemeanor, failure to appear. Bryant stated that he wanted citizens to know that any type of threat will not be taken lightly, especially against the school system, and will result in arrest.
