Mr. William Carey “Billy” Deriso age 67, of Leslie, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday September 21, 2024 at the Leslie City Cemetery. Rev. Tommy Mason will officiate the service. The family will greet friends following the service at the Leslie Community Church.

Billy was born October 22, 1956 in Americus. He was the son of the late Bill Calvin Deriso and the late Essie Mae Faircloth Deriso. Billy owned and operated Leslie Hardware from 1993 until 2009. He later went to work for Lowes, Shiver Lumber Company and was last employed with Miller Auto Parts in Americus. He served as Mayor of Leslie for a period of time. Billy was an avid Georgia Bulldog Fan. He was a member of Leslie Methodist Church.

Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Lindsay Deriso King (Stephen) of Chattanooga, TN and Elizabeth Deriso Ekkel of Americus; a sister, Alice Parker of Americus and his brothers, David Deriso of Alpharetta, GA and Timmy Deriso of  Metairie, LA. Billy is also survived by six grandchildren, Anthony King, Hayden Ekkel, Lillian King, Bryson Ekkel, Madelyn King and Austin King.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Toni Poupard Deriso, a sister, Carol Teague and a brother, Donnie Deriso.
