Mr. Robert M. Murray, age 83, of Americus, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at his home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on the day of the funeral. The family will also be receiving visitors through Monday, September 23 at their home in Americus.

Robert was born on March 4, 1941, to the late Ralph Murray and Marie Louise Stewart Murray. Robert enjoyed many aspects of life, including playing golf with friends, studying US history and the history of American wars, telling stories of his time in the United States Army, and spending time with his beloved dog, Cercie. He worked as a print and production manager for the Americus Times-Recorder. He also worked with Redmond Industries, and as a home improvement contractor with Roger Stamper.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Bartlett Murray; a daughter, Angela Suzanne Murray and son-in-law, Rob Blanding, of Seattle, WA; and his son, Robert Michael Murray Jr. and daughter-in-law, Nema Etheridge, of Americus, GA. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Jane Bartlett and Sandra Murray Tye.
