Navy flyover in Plains celebrating Carter’s 100th birthday

Four jets flew over Plains at 12:30 on October 1rst for former President Jimmy Carter’s 100th birthday. Dawn Stankus, the public affairs officer for the Commander of the Naval Airforce Atlantic, gave details on the aircraft. “The four aircraft were U.S. Navy FA-18 echo fox trot super hornets. All of the aircraft flew from NAS Oceana, Naval Air Station Oceana, in Virginia Beach this morning.”
Stankus shared the importance of the flyover. “The U.S. Navy is just absolutely honored to be here in Plains Georgia to recognize President Carter on his 100th birthday.”
She gave the background on the pilots. “The four airplanes, they contained pilots that just recently returned from a nine-month deployment. The two squadrons that were part of. . . this flyover today, they’re part of Carrier Air Wing three, which deployed with the Dwight D. Eisenhower carrier strike group. They returned in July 2024 from this nine-month deployment where they were in the Red Sea.”
She praised the pilots and Carter. “These are true American heroes flying over Plains Georgia to recognize another true American hero.”
