On Sunday October 27th, 2024 officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Strife Street in reference to a report of a sexual assault. The victim reported that she had been
walking on Strife Street when she was attacked and sexually assaulted by a black male suspect that she did not know. Investigation into the incident lead to the arrest of John Bernard Gallamore, age 45 of Americus.

Gallamore has been charged with five felony counts related to the assault and is currently housed in the Sumter County Jail. This investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be made.
