The Green Grove Baptist Church was established in the year 1945 under the leadership of Rev. Ulysee Mann. At that time there was a small but faithful band of worshippers, who all attended worship services regularly. The word of God provided the light to guide their path and the love to inspire fellowship. The membership steadily increased. Rev Mann continued to pastor until his death. The church experienced several changes in leadership beginning with, Rev. Blue Hillman, Rev. Ulysee Brown, Rev. R. B. Bailey, Rev. J H. Hill, Rev. Carl Munn, and Rev. Tommie Law are just a few bold soldiers who accepted the challenge to lead.
Before 1997, the church went through a life cycle. The congregation aged out and attendance declined. Green Grove Baptist Church closed its doors in March of 1997. However, the church building was used by other leaders and congregations to spread the gospel.
On September 24, 2023, the Green Grove Baptist Church reopened its doors and called Rev. Mireo Harris to become our shepherd. On July 23, 2023, Rev. Harris was installed as the pastor of Green Grove Baptist Church. He came with a mission of saving souls and spreading the good news. In less than a year, Rev. Harris in his role as pastor inspired the church to complete the purchase of the adjacent lot which is under construction for a parking lot. Under Rev. Harris’s dynamic leadership, vision, and zeal to do the work of the Lord, pulpit furniture was added, an advocate of outreach ministries designed to enhance and enrich the spiritual and educational growth of our church and community.
Today, the church parking lot has been renovated, folding chairs have been replaced with cushion chairs, church renovations inside and outside. In addition, hosted the church first Women Summit as well as several outreach ministries that embrace the youth in our church and community.
We acknowledge God’s divine influence in all that we do and the active power of the Holy Spirit in every step we take.
To God Be the Glory
