SOWEGA CASA is accepting Christmas donations for children in foster care till December 3. Gifts should be new, unwrapped, and cannot include perishable items or clothing. Gifts should be suitable for children from newborns to 18-year-olds. Gift cards for clothing or restaurants are also appreciated.

Four drop off points are provided for donations: The Windsor Hotel, Sunbelt Ford, the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce, and the CASA office on Georgia Southwestern University, which is in the former president’s home. Those wishing to learn more can visit sowegachildren.org.

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate, and consists of volunteers that support children in the foster system. SOWEGA CASA is a grant funded program and a 501c3 charity. The organization’s efforts are based on volunteers. Prospective volunteers go through training, background checks, and if qualified, are sworn in by a Juvenile Court Judge.
