The lighting of the Christmas tree was held in Plains on November 30. Kim Fuller, Executive Director of The Friends of Jimmy Carter, made announcements from the balcony of the Historic Plains Inn. Afterward, mayor Joey Recker lit the tree.
The Christmas lights shone brightly in the brisk air. The Palace Jesters played, keeping folks entertained, some of whom set up seats across the road from the band. Visitors disembarked the train, streaming into Plains.
Kids enjoyed activities including a cake walk and visits with Santa, and food carts attracted a range of ages. The parade included golf carts decked with Christmas lights, with candy thrown to kids.
