Jack E. Teasley, 86, of Andersonville, GA, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Perfect Care in Americus, GA surrounded by family. Jack was born in Lincolnton, GA on September 13, 1938, to Hoke S. and Janie G. Teasley. Jack graduated from Lincoln County High School where he played football. He studied math and business management at Columbus College. While in Columbus, he received Man of the Year in the 1980s. He was a member of the Epworth Sunday School class at First Methodist of Americus. He made a career as a production manager in the textile industry making everything from blue jeans to carpet. After moving to Andersonville in 1994 he finished his working life at Lee State Prison where he developed a love for working in the Kairos Prison Ministry where he served for many years. Jack had a heart for missions and helping others. He could also fix and build anything out of nothing.
He is survived by his sisters, Sarah Close (Bob) of Carlsbad, CA, and Ellen Schumpert (Roy) of McCormick, SC; by his daughter Kim Thornhill (David) of Grovetown, GA; by his son Keith Teasley (Teresa) of Americus, GA; by his grandsons Paul Thornhill (Kayla), and Thomas Thornhill of Grovetown, GA; by his granddaughters Hope Bateman (Nathan) of Americus, GA and Hannah Ledger (Matthew) of Beaufort, SC; and by two great-grandsons Jackson Bateman of Americus, GA, and Adrian Thornhill of Grovetown, GA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Betty Goff Teasley, daughter Jacquelyn Gaye Teasley, and his brothers Tommie and Roger Teasley, and sister Joanne Martin.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the First Methodist Church of Americus, GA, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Visitation will be on Saturday, December 14th at 3:00 pm followed by the service at 4:00 pm at Bethany Methodist Church of Iveytown in Lincolnton, GA. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 4:30 pm at First Methodist Church of Americus, GA.
