Grandma Velma Sims, (center) became the newest member of Green Grove Baptist Church, 1207 North Lee St. in Americus, on December 22, the fourth Sunday of Advent. Surrounded by her seven grandchildren, Ms. Sims said, “I am joining today for my grandchildren,” adding she knew the influence of her faith would be important in her grandchildren’s lives. Pastor Mireo Harris (rear), promised the church would now formally start a Sunday School program, to accommodate this great new group of youth. Green Grove celebrated is second anniversary this fall, having reopened after 25 years of being closed. The church has stood on the corner of N. Lee and Lester for 75 years. Parking lot on Lester. All are welcome. Services are held on the second Sunday of the month at 11 AM and the fourth Sunday at 9 AM.
