Georgia Legislative Black Caucus

It is with profound sadness and deep respect that the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus joins the nation and the world in mourning the passing of President Jimmy Carter, a son of Georgia who dedicated his life to service, justice, and humanity.

President Carter’s legacy is etched into the fabric of our history, from his tireless advocacy for civil rights to his commitment to uplifting the marginalized and underserved. As a man of faith and conviction, he championed policies that sought to address inequality and expand opportunities for all, particularly those in the African American community who faced systemic barriers to equality and justice.

During his presidency and throughout his post-presidential years, President Carter embodied the principles of humility, compassion, and resilience. His work through The Carter Center to promote democracy, eradicate diseases, and monitor elections around the globe reflected his unwavering belief in the dignity and worth of every human being.

As members of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus, we are proud to honor his memory and legacy. President Carter’s roots in Plains, Georgia, remind us of the transformative power of dedication and leadership that serves all people, regardless of race, creed, or station in life.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Carter family during this time of mourning. May they find solace in knowing that his extraordinary life and contributions have inspired generations and will continue to do so for years to come.

In honor of President Carter, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing the principles of equity, justice, and service that he so passionately upheld.

Rest in power, President Jimmy Carter. Your legacy will forever guide us.
