The Sumter County Board of Education announces its intentions to seek public comment regarding opting out of the statewide adjusted base year ad valorem homestead exemption for Sumter County Schools.

Under the statewide adjusted based ad valorem process prior to HB 581, Sumter County Schools has been able to accept the Roll Back Millage rate for the past seven years. As we continue to uphold our commitment to providing quality education, we want to keep you informed about how this law may impact our schools, staff, and students.

We are committed to ensuring that any decision made is transparent and in alignment with our mission to ensure all students receive an equitable education equipped with 21st Century Skills through transformational learning experiences. In an effort to help our community stay informed, we will be holding public hearings in which we invite all concerned citizens to attend. The location, dates, and times of the public hearings are as follows:
