Michael (Mike) Wester Sutton, age 76, a devoted family man, proud Vietnam Veteran, and a man of many talents, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Sunday, January 19th, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories. .
Funeral services will be held 12:30 P.M. Tuesday, January 28, 2025 in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral & Cremation Services. The family will greet friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 11:30 A.M. until service time. A private interment will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Cody Bivins, Jacob Sutton, Tyler Zielinski, Dylon Webb, Adam Cox, Chad Hamilton, and Jason Taft.
Mike served his country with honor as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War, embodying bravery and dedication. After his service, he continued to make an impact through his work as a master landscaper, transforming ordinary spaces into breathtaking works of art. Known for his incredible skills, Mike could build and fix anything—a true craftsman with a heart as big as his talents were impressive.
He later worked for the United States Postal Service, demonstrating the same incredible work ethic he brought to every endeavor. He also founded T.D.Cody, Inc., a trucking company named after his first two beloved grandchildren, a testament to his love for family and entrepreneurial spirit.
Mike’s greatest joy in life was his family. He adored his children and grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to spoil them rotten and fill their lives with love and laughter. He was a man who loved deeply and gave generously, always putting family first.
Now reunited in Heaven with the love of his life, Mike is undoubtedly spoiling his wife Marcia just as he did in life. Their bond was an enduring love story, and their reunion brings comfort to those who mourn his passing.
Mike will be remembered as a kind, hardworking, and loving man who touched the lives of everyone he met. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the memories of a life well-lived. His love, strength, and spirit will never be forgotten. He was a member of Andersonville Methodist Church.
Survivors include his two daughters of Americus: Angie Brunson (Eddie) and Catrina Davis; one son: Shane Sutton (Paige) of Madison, Al; nine grandchildren: Tera Zielinski (Tyler), Cody Bivins (Hannah), Courtney McCarty (John), Cailee Davis, Katelyn Sutton (Dylon), Desiree Edwards, Austin Sutton, Jacob Sutton (Olivia), and Ayden Sutton; seven great-grandchildren: Ella, Taybor, Grayson, Johnathon Jr., Jacob, Baylor, and Aubrey; two sisters: Cathy Flournoy (Danny) of Hamilton, Ga, and Judy Stinson (Butch) of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Marcia Carol Sutton; his parents: Gaston and Dot Sutton; his brother: Frank Sutton; two nephews: Chris Stinson and Ray Sutton; and one great-granddaughter: Adelaide Sutton.
His caregivers included the caring and loving staff of Perfect Care and Chad Hamilton of Pruitt Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Perfect Care.
