C.H.A.M.P.S. group attends 45th Martin Luther King Jr. Convocation at Georgia Southwestern

Mr. Treven Floyd, from Sumter County Intermediate School, accompanied his C.H.A.M.P.S. group to the 45th Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation at Georgia Southwestern State University. C.H.A.M.P.S. is a club that promotes Captivating Hospitality, Academics, and Masculinity while Preparing young men for Success.

C.H.A.M.P.S. President, Santana Jones, was interviewed after. When asked about his experience at the MLK Convocation, he responded: “I loved how entertaining the convocation was. I love learning about how and what MLK did for my people. The choir was singing so beautifully. I love hearing the African American National Anthem. I loved how African Americans came to listen about MLK.” When asked whether C.H.A.M.P.S. is beneficial to his future, Santana responded: “In C.H.A.M.P.S., you learn lots of beneficial things for the future. You learn life lessons and how to be a gentleman. You learn the importance of academics. C.H.A.M.P.S. can help us get into college. You get to have fun and have different experiences.”
