New Walmart Neighborhood Market opens in Ellaville

On Wednesday, the New Walmart Neighborhood Market held its Grand Opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. at 560 S. Broad St. The store will provide Ellaville residents with low prices and an assortment of merchandise such as fresh produce, meat, grocery, pharmacy, health care products, toys, gifts, electronics, home decor and gasoline.

Walmart is happy to be part of the Ellaville community and will celebrate with residents on Saturday. A Big Family Welcomes will give customers a chance to meet the manager and enjoy family activities such as face painting, cup cake decorating and free food samples while supplies last. Time for this activity is noon-3 p.m.

Welcome Walmart.

A special visit with family in Ellaville

On Jan. 3, Melissa McCorkle Snyder and her husband Nick Snyder and their two little girls, Harper and Nellie Snyder, visited Melissa’s parents Dwight and Mary Ellen McCorkle of Ellaville for the weekend. Nick and Melissa live in Apollo Beach, Fla.

On Dec. 30, Nick and Melissa and their family left Florida going to Roswell to be with Nick’s twin brother and wife for a holiday visit. The Snyders left Roswell on Saturday heading down to Ellaville to be with Melissa’s parents for a few days.

Mary Ellen McCorkle said she made four different kinds of homemade ravioli. They had a McCorkle dinner party Saturday night. Those attending were Billy and Elene and William McCorkle, Melissa, Nick and children, and Dwight and Mary Ellen.

While everyone was there they celebrated little Nellie’s first birthday with gifts. Grandmother Mary Ellen said Nellie’s walking everywhere.

The Snyders left late Sunday afternoon going back to their home in Florida.

Christmas holidays special when everyone comes home

The Christmas holidays are real special when all of the family comes home.

Cynthia Sanseverino and her husband Mike and daughters Kayla and Sarah came home for the holidays from Parkland, Fla., on Dec. 21.

Sammy and Mary Nan Pilcher had all of their family on Christmas Eve: Tommy Pilcher, Alan, Sharon and Andy Miller all of Ellaville; Carla, Dave, Clifford Trina, Shane and Anna Rae Murray of Tazewell; Ben Murray, Lynn, Anna Lee and Maddie Taylor of Drainville, as well as Cynthia, Mike, Kayla and Sarah Sanseverino of Florida. Most all of these were back Christmas morning for breakfast.

Cynthia and her family stayed until after the New Year end returned back home on Jan. 2.

Schley County Schools started back Monday

Schley County Schools started back on Monday, Jan. 5 from being out of school for two weeks for Christmas holidays.

Everyone was glad to get back into their special activities in school and to proceed with their studies and all other activities. Welcome back to the 2015 school year.
