AMERICUS — Mr. Bobby Gale Hester, 67, passed away Saturday afternoon, Jan. 31, 2015, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Ga. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at Cheek Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Houston Berry, the Rev. David Kitchens, the Rev. Rick Smith and the Rev. Raymond Smith officiating. A Graveside Committal service will be held at 2 p.m. at Andersonville National Cemetery in Andersonville, Ga., with military honors. Active pallbearers are John Lott, Bill Dowdy, Rusty Sears, James Wynn, John Daley, Johnny Ray Hester, Lon McNeil and John Deltoro. Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Jack Daniels and deacons of Cheek Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday evening, Feb. 3, 2015, at the funeral home , and at other times at the family residence, 151 Orchid Road. Americus, Ga.

Mr. Hester was born Oct. 23, 1947, in Lambert, Miss., the son of the late Vernell Richard Hester and Della Mae Terry Hester. He was retired from the City of Americus where he was a correctional officer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam era, and a member of Cheek Memorial Baptist Church.

Mr. Hester is survived by his beloved wife Paula Tedford Hester of Americus; four daughters and sons-in-law, Stacy Hester Dowdy (Bill) of Smithville, Ga., Amy Daley Deltoro (John) of Jefferson, Ga., Holly Hester Lott (John) of Andersonville, Ga., and Lindsay Hester Solley of Bonaire, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Shannon Weaver (Stephanie) of Marks, Miss.; sister, Judy Hester Jabr of Clarksdale, Miss.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, C.W. Bridges (Bobbie Jean) of Batesville, Miss., Larry D. Hester (Connie) of Blue Springs, Miss., Terry G. “Booby” Hester (Joyce) of McGee, Miss. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Maranda Flinn, Kade Salter, Annalise Lott, Stone Weaver, Emily Deltoro, Arry Kate Hester McNeil, Zach Daley, Hannah Deltoro, Jake Daley, Brooklyn Hester, Ethan Deltoro, Hayden Cromer and Jada-Kate Solley; one great grandson, Grayson Flinn and a number of nieces and nephews.
