Wildcats smash Vikings 8-1

BUTLER – The Schley County Wildcats baseball team traveled to Butler on April 14 to face the Taylor County Vikings in a region 4-A match. The Wildcats took an 8-1 victory in the contest, which lasted only four innings. With the win, the Wildcats hold an eight-game winning streak and bring their region record to 8-1 on the season. The team’s overall record is currently 14-3.

The Wildcats jumped ahead early in the match, pushing five runners across the plate in the top of the first inning. Taylor County put one run on the board in the bottom of the frame and Schley rounded out their score with an additional three runs in the next inning. The remainder of the game went scoreless.

Brett Usry pitched the first three innings, striking out four batters. Blake Howell took the mound to wrap up the game and strike out two opponents.

Usry, Howell, and Clint Sellars each contributed two hits to the win. Sellars knocked in three RBIs while Howell and Will Barry each brought in two.

The Wildcats return to the diamond on April 21, hosting St. Anne-Pacelli.
