Sparks named SGTC Student Affairs Assistant

AMERICUS — Kierra Sparks of Montezuma has been named Student Affairs assistant at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC), announced SGTC President Sparky Reeves recently. As Student Affairs assistant, Sparks will report to SGTC Admissions Director Whitney Crisp and Vice President of Institutional Support Services Karen Werling.
Sparks will be responsible for assisting prospective students with general college information, assisting with student recruitment, coordinating campus visits and giving tours to prospective students and other groups, entrance testing, notifying accepted students of their application status and other duties in the Student Affairs department.
“We are pleased to welcome Kierra Sparks to South Georgia Technical College as Student Affairs Assistant,” said President Reeves. “Her education and the previous experience with students she brings will be invaluable assets to the department.”
Sparks earned her bachelor science in political science with a minor in history from Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) in Americus, where she was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority.
Prior to employment at SGTC, Sparks was an Intern at the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site in Plains. She was also a STORM Spotter for GSW, where she advised incoming college freshmen on registration for the upcoming semester. She was also a shift leader at Zaxby’s in Americus.
