Schley Cross Country competes at Shaw

COLUMBUS – On Sept. 15, the Schley County High School Cross Country teams traveled to Columbus to participate in a meet hosted by Shaw High School.
Other Schools competing in the meet were Northside, Columbus, Harris County, Brookstone, Spencer, and Carver.
Cassandra Williams paced the Lady Wildcats in the meet, taking a 19th place in a field of 87 runners with a time of 26:10. Ginny Calhoun followed, finishing in 34:21, while Rose Vo came in soon after with a time of 36:22. Brenda Eggars and Myesha Harper rounded out the Lady Wildcats’ team.
In boys cross country action, the Wildcats were led by Austin Anthony, who crossed the finish line in 21:42. Ross Minick was the second Wildcat runner to complete the race with a time of 24:30, followed by Jordan Hall with a time of 27:08. Wade Law and Luis Williams were the other runners on the track for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats and Lady Wildcats were scheduled to participate in another meet in Hawkinsville on Oct. 1. The results of this meet were not available at press time. Schley’s distance runners will return to action on October 6 in Crisp County before hosting Marion County, Chattahoochee County, Crisp County, and Southland on Oct. 13 and 15.
