GSW women’s soccer falls to Montevallo 3-0

AMERICUS – Despite outshooting Montevallo, 14-13, Georgia Southwestern women’s soccer fell, 3-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Hurricane Field.
The Lady ‘Canes had five shots in the first half and nine in the second to outshoot the Falcons by one. Neeli Fortson led GSW with five shots, two of which were on goal. Shatyriah Crawford had three shots, two on goal.
The first half showed a good performance by both teams keeping it scoreless until the 23:54 mark when the Falcons Taylor Gonzales dribbled the ball past GSW defenders and shot one in at the top left corner out of the keepers reach.
The second goal came in the second half at the 49:32 mark off a pass in front of the box and the third at the 60:46 mark from in front of the net.
Elyse Gowen played all 90 minutes for GSW and recorded seven saves.
GSW moves to 2-9 overall and 0-6 in the Peach Belt Conference. Montevallo improved to 2-9-2 overall and 1-6 in the PBC.
The Lady ‘Canes are home again Saturday to host Young Harris at 1:00 p.m.
