AIKEN, S.C.- Freshmen duo Drew Endreson and Ella Hawkins helped send the Georgia Southwestern women’s soccer team into double overtime against USC Aiken on Oct. 26 at Pacer Pit. The last time GSW had a double overtime was in 2013.
The Lady Hurricanes held pace with the Pacers through the first half, only allowing eight shots (four on goal), and countering with four shots of their own.
The second half picked up pace and the Lady ‘Canes were two to two with USC Aiken. Aiken scored at the 62:41 mark off a short cross from the right side.
GSW answered back six minutes later when Endreson dribbled it up the middle off a pass from Shatyriah Crawford through USC Aikens defense and shot it high to score her second career goal and tie the game 1-1.
Hawkins scored 16 minutes later with an assist from Taylor Herron to put the Lady ‘Canes up 2-1 over the Pacers.  The home team put one in two minutes later to take the game into overtime.
The first overtime went scoreless, but USC Aiken scored three minutes into the second overtime, shooting the ball up over the left side out of the keepers reach to take a 3-2 win.
Elyse Gowen made seven saves to put her season total at 115.
The Lady ‘Canes return to the field in Americus on Oct. 28 to host Georgia College for Senior Day and the last game of the season.
