Group takes part in    marketing business model

AMERICUS — Members of the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce Chamber Champions visited South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently to participate in a business module on marketing a business or product program.
SGTC Vice President of Institutional Advancement Su Ann Bird and Marketing Coordinator Valerie Winheim conducted the module for the Americus-Sumter County High School and Southland Academy juniors who are participating in the Chamber Champions program.
Chamber Champions is a leadership development initiative coordinated by the Workforce Development Division of the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce. The chamber’s hope is that by providing a program that allows youth to develop leadership skills and learn to work together as a team, they will be better prepared as decision makers to carry on as qualified leaders of this great country, state and county.
As part of the Chamber Champions visit, SGTC officials shared a  video from Ted Talks on Leadership and Marketing and then conducted an icebreaker challenging the Champions to utilize the information presented from the video as they marketed themselves and photos of items that inspired them. The top presenters received prizes from SGTC.
The students were exposed to SGTCs marketing pieces and strategies and also gave feedback on their favorite forms of marketing communications. The students also toured Café’ Campesino as part of this business module.
Members of the 2014-2015 Chamber Champions group includes  Americus-Sumter County High’s Telisha Crook, Kyra Davis, Brittany Eason, Na’Charlesia Floyd, Katti Ingle, Kelly Ingle, Asheia Merritt, Joseph Ndaayezwi, Chandler Perry, Jasmine Surles and Quan Warren, and Southland Academy’s Ashley Ansley, Abby Dent, Naina Ghaj, Paisley Greene, Rachel Grimes, Morgan Jones, Louise Quillope, Kaitlyn Smith, Mary Martin Shealy and Stephen Turton.
