Southland Academy alumnus, Mike Gurley, recently visited the business law class at Southland Academy. He was a 1985 graduate of Southland. After working with the Georgia State Patrol for 27 years and seven months, hei s now retired. Gurley reviewed many of the driver education laws and explained how violations of them can result in a misdemeanor. Consequently, fines and/or appearing in court might become a possibility. An intoxilyzer was used to show the students how even a small amount of Scope mouthwash causes the reading to elevate. The students enjoyed participating in this hands-on activity, and hopefully they learned a valuable lesson.
